What Is IVF?

IVF is a reproductive method that helps single people and couples become pregnant through a series of processes. The process starts with stimulating the ovaries to release numerous eggs, which are subsequently extracted from the ovaries. To fertilize the eggs, a sample of sperm is taken and mixed with the eggs in a laboratory. One or more of the resultant embryos are inserted into the uterus after being observed. IVF is used to treat a variety of infertility problems and can be combined with genetic testing of the embryos to guarantee better results.

What is involved with in vitro fertilization?

There are five basic steps in the IVF and embryo transfer process which include the following:
– Monitor and stimulate the development of healthy egg(s) in the ovaries.
– Collect the eggs.
– Secure the sperm.
– Combine the eggs and sperm together in the laboratory and provide the appropriate environment for fertilization and early embryo growth.
– Transfer embryos into the uterus.
